Geeta Kadam's Birth Story
On the auspicious day of Ganesh Chaturthi,at 9.15 am I woke up with lose motions and pain. I tried to go to the bathroom but motions were not happening. The pain was coming once in every hour and was bearable. I chose to ignore it as I thought it was gas as I still had 3 weeks till my due date, and pass it like any normal Day.
After 1.30pm,my pain started increasing. This was while having lunch and it was hard for me to swallow a morsel and also difficult to utter a word during a coversation.
The pain of my contractions were steadily increasing with time and by 9 pm they were intense. The pain was strong and came in regular intervals. I tried a lot of breathing techniques to cope with pain.
Thee doctor confirmed I was in indeed in true labor and It wasn't just an upset stomach or gas. I went to the hospital and was immediately shifted to maternity ward. My pain had increased a lot now. I was moaning in pain and that’s when I heard a pop sound and my water bag burst.
I was then moved to labor ward. My Doctor,Dr,Rishma Dhillon Pai came and showed me how to push, she encouraged me to push and within 5-6 pushes baby was out. The baby birth time was 12.41am.
I was overwhelmed by all the feelings at once .They cleaned the baby and gave the baby to me within 20 minutes. Since I had gestational diabetes and the baby had aspirated potty during labor, they took the baby to NICU for observation.
I experienced a lot of shivering for two hours and my doctor said it was normal as my body had undergone stress.
After 2 hours, my shivering was gone and was able to pass urine on my own. That’s when my sacred journey to blissfull motherhood started”.
The Lamaze Childbirth training sequence at Birth N Beyond provided insights about labor, breathing techniques, pain coping tools and strategies, C section, epidural and normal delivery procedures. The sessions were very informative along with various activities which Dr.Dhwani made us perform in between which helped toward my healthy journey of pregnancy and achieve my goal of normal delivery. I am fit and flexible in my post natal phase too.
